It is impossible to sugar coat the lives of cows as they have one of the most difficult life spans to come to terms with. Either bred for meat or spending most of their adult life pregnant so they can produce milk for the nation. Then having their babies taken away from them not long after they are born, it is pretty heart breaking, I have to say. Their evolutionary path has been one of service to mankind and yet they get little reward for all that they do. Having worked with my twin sisters cows for a few years, I am very touched by their gentleness and openness in allowing me to offer Reiki to them.
This story starts a couple of years ago and shows that cows love Reiki and that they also do remember people. Two years ago my twin sister asked me to offer Reiki to her cow Chilli who was expecting a calf. I was over in Ireland visiting my sick dad and had gone to my sister’s farm to see if I could help. Chilli was in a stall and she kept on walking in circles, she had been diagnosed with meningitis and everything seemed bleak. Half way through the session another cow broke down the barn door looking for Reiki. I was very shocked by this but I eventually settled back to the Reiki session. With two cows and a broken door, I cannot forget how surreal it all felt but I knew I needed to help her as otherwise she was going to be put to sleep. There was a huge amount weighing down on my shoulders as I thought, I cannot bare for this beautiful cow to be put down and I did not want to think about the un-born calf. After the session had finished, Chilli placed her head in my hands as if to say thank you. Within 24 hours the walking in circles had stopped and she went on to give birth to a healthy calf. In honesty it was a miracle and I was so thankful to having been able to offer Reiki to her.
When I returned to the farm recently to offer Reiki to the cows in their field, Chilli came right up to me and again placed her head in my hands. I was very humbled by the fact that she remembered me and that she was so open to receiving Reiki again. She showed so much trust in me as she came right up to me and snuggled right into my body. I could see her intelligence and spiritual energy shining so brightly, I knew that she knew who I was and that she knew how the Reiki had helped her before, I felt that she wanted to show the other cows that Reiki was cool.
I met Mo last year and offered her Reiki, she loved it and lay beside me as she drew on the energy. This time I had brought my crystals with me as I had been doing crystal healing with my 91 year old mum. Using crystals with Reiki is a perfect combination of therapies. I showed each crystal to Mo, I was fascinated by her interest for what I was doing, it was as if this was the most natural thing in the world to her. She more or less relaxed straight away as I placed a crystal in a place of any breakages in her aura. She let me use my pendulum to find the places in her aura that needed to be healed. We both sat together on the grass as I held a Reiki space with her. Cows are very sentient beings, they have humour, they are kind but most of all the are very intelligent animals. They are able to forgive/ or will try to forgive the human race for all that we have done to them. When you hold a Reiki space in a field of cows, first you will notice their uncertainty, fear of what you are doing but then there will be inquisitiveness and courage of yes, this is Reiki pretty good.
