Yikes, I totally forgot that it is World Animal Reiki day today…..so here is a post from last year As its World Animal Reiki Day I thought it appropriate to share a Reiki session from this past week. This is Dolly, one of my golden oldies who I have been treating with Bowen for many years. She recently sustained a check ligament injury and has been on strict rest. Her owner and husband have been doing an amazing job in her rehabilitation, keeping in mind that Dolly would struggle mentally with enforced rest and time off, they have worked out a great system and she has coped with her time off really well. I gave her a short Bowen session to make sure she was not tight or restricted anywhere, then gave her some Reiki. I have been sending Reiki remotely with the intention of healing to the check ligament, but this was her first hands on session. She really responded well and went into a deep state of relaxation……rare for Dolly Did some targeted Reiki on the check ligament which is healing really well. I saw Dolly last week for her routine Bowen treatment and she is doing really well. Back to hacking out and some thrills around her field. Yesterday was World Animal Reiki Day The day aims to increase awareness of the healing effects of this truly incredible therapeutic modality, as well as honouring animals themselves as our teachers. Animals are inherently more aware and understanding of energy. Because they don’t communicate in the same way as humans, their other senses, intuitive abilites and sensitivity to energy is heightened and refined. Have you ever walked into a room and felt an odd vibe? Or instantly liked or disliked someone without having mentally processed and rationalised why? That’s your body reading energy, and assimilating information from a place of intuitive feeling, rather than mental processing. Personally, I’ve found including reiki in my treatments profoundly beneficial. It allows me to connect more deeply with your animal, help them feel safe, work with nervous and painful dogs ethically and without crossing their boundaries, and achieve a lot more hands on myotherapy work. It’s World Animal Reiki Day. I started learning Reiki 15 years ago (in January 2008). Wow, has it really been that long? Back then I could not find anyone who was teaching Reiki for Animals. One reason I started learning Reiki was to help cats at the shelter where I volunteered. I practice and practiced with the shelter cats, as well as my felines. They taught me a lot because I had to trust what I felt rather than get verbal feedback. From there I created my own unique Reiki for Animals class. This is a photo of Chester, a kitty at King Street Cats in Alexandria, VA. He suddenly became very ill, so in addition to his veterinary care I spent a lot of time offering him Reiki. Chester recovered and was adopted with his brother. Look at the content smile on his face and how his paws dug into me? I love offering energy healing to animals because they are amazing teachers. These are just a few of the precious babies waiting to be noticed at the Little Rock shelter. Today I celebrate World Animal Reiki Day by sharing reiki with these and many others at Little Rock Animal Village. They are completely full of absolutely wonderful dogs and cats of every size, shape, age, breed, and personality. Many dogs are already house trained and leash trained, and all are vetted as part of the adoption process. Please consider saving a life when it’s time to add a furry buddy to your family.
