SARA Rocks the Grand Canyon State

October 22, 2017

The Director of Lost Our Home Pet Foundation, Jodi Polanski, wanted to bring Reiki to her organization, but she didn’t know who to call to make that happen. Then someone told her about SARA. After several emails and a few phone calls, I found myself on a plane bound for Tempe, Arizona, to teach Level I Animal Reiki.

Lost Our Home Pet Foundation was founded in 2008 and it is the only rescue in the Phoenix metropolitan area dedicated to saving pets at risk of homelessness due to foreclosure, eviction, financial hardship or domestic violence. They are a resource for realtors, law enforcement and the community, when they learn of pets abandoned in foreclosed homes. In addition to being a safe place to land, LOH provides medical care and operates a pet food bank.

Lost Our Home takes enrichment seriously, for the animals and the staff and volunteers. There was tremendous interest in the SARA training, resulting in two classes being offered and nineteen people trained to bring Reiki to the animals. I couldn’t have asked for a more loving group of students; everyone was engaged, fun, and focused on helping the animals.

It was a privilege to be invited to teach at LOH. Not only did I meet an amazing group of animal rescuers, I made new friends. And now there are nineteen new Reiki ambassadors serving the animals at Lost Our Home Pet Foundation.
